”On the Autobahn through Germany” – excerpts from the memoirs of a customer
There we were in our car (without air conditioning) driving through Europe and navigating with the help of an old map book (this was long before Google maps). Keeping track of the road and plotting our route was part of the adventure. We couldn’t listen to music either because our Volvo didn’t have a radio. Don’t ask me why, but during those hours in the car I came up with the idea that I should create a little song. It was a long trip and maybe I wanted to keep the mood up and so I still wanted to show that I could — if I couldn’t play the recorder, I could at least sing, I thought! ”Berget Vadå” was my very own song. At first it took me a few hours to compose it. Then it was on repeat. It was my sister who went crazy first, but when dad then explained that ”enough is enough” I understood that it was time to let it rest. Well, it was a bit of a test of patience, and we probably tested each other’s limits there on the Autobahn through Germany.
