Welcome to Life Portraits!

Finally! As we have longed to be able to utter that word. Now we are opening the gates to our writing business and we can hardly describe how much fun this is and will be. My name is Linnéa and together with my friend and colleague (also word-nerd) Anders I look forward to listening to and writing people’s life stories for many hours for many years to come.

The idea for this was born just over a year and a half ago, and to be honest I don’t know why the idea struck me before, since people’s stories and writing have always been close to my heart. People have always been storytelling creatures (Homo narrans) and it is through stories that our reality and our context are shaped and we find meaning – not only for ourselves but between generations. Today we also know – through research – that personal storytelling is not only a natural part of being human, but that we feel better from writing or telling our story – to the extent that it positively affects our mental well-being and our immune system. It gives us perspective, meaning and a deeper understanding. Also, telling someone who actively listens makes a huge difference.

The time from the idea hatching to today’s launch of the website has been spent interviewing, writing, editing, designing, formatting and printing the memoirs of five people. These experiences have allowed us to develop a smooth approach to help even more people with this. Anders’ sharp eye for the written word has been an invaluable help when it comes to processing the texts – so it seemed very natural to combine our respective writing interests and do this together.

It is with great pleasure that we now welcome you to go through the website and read about our background, structure, content, approach, and – as the icing on the cake – our more personal blog posts. Should you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us!
